The new D90 supports an advanced feature called Universal Vibration Reduction. This converts all lenses into Universal Vibration Reduction lenses, and has many advantages. This means a person using a 100 lens, who have generally have to shoot at 1/500th of a second, can shoot at 2 seconds when UVR is on .The new UVR system is not based on sensor, and still requires one of the three optional vertical battery grips. In this case, the MB-D90a is required. This grip provides all the general controls and expands battery life of a regular grip. It also holds 8 EN-EL4a batteries, along with a step-up transformer.
With UVR on, the match up power of the batteries sends a current through the step-up transformer. Then produce a 110 volt current through metal pads near the grip.
